Dietary Polyphenol Intake and Gastric Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Elevated consumption of foods high in polyphenols and flavonoids may slash the risk of stomach (gastric) cancer.

This study was carried out to confirm the protective effects of polyphenol from food sources against gastric (stomach) cancer. Data from more than 1 million persons who volunteered for 19 studies were examined for this study. 

Researchers observed that dietary intake of polyphenols and flavonoids diminished stomach cancer risk by as much as 29% and 28% respectively. The results of this study showed that adequate ingestion of foods rich in polyphenols and flavonoids may confer an individual with significant protection against gastric cancer.
