Association of Dietary Fiber Intake With Gastrointestinal Tract Cancer Among Korean Adults

Indulging in foods loaded with fiber may help thwart the formation of cancerous cells and tumors in the gastrointestinal tract.

This study was carried out to confirm the protective effect of high fiber diet against cancers arising from the gastrointestinal tract. Researchers compared the frequency of consumption of fiber-rich foods between 9,086 cancer-free Korean men and women and 163 patients with gastrointestinal cancer.

Researchers noticed that lovers of fiber-containing foods were less likely to be diagnosed with cancers originating from the gastrointestinal tract, including stomach cancer. This study demonstrated that adhering to a high fiber diet may save an individual from ending up as one of the victims of gastrointestinal tract.
