Impact of Reducing Intake of Red and Processed Meat on Colorectal Cancer Incidence in Germany 2020 to 2050-A Simulation Study

Stopping the unhealthy habit of eating red and processed meats may drastically improve an individual's odds of enjoying a life free from colorectal cancer.

This study explored the impact of red and processed meat consumption on the incidence of colorectal cancer in Germany. Researchers estimated the number of colorectal cancer cases attributed to red and processed meat intake from 2020 to 2050 using a macro-simulation model.

Researchers discovered that excluding red and processed meat from the German diet could save as much as 63,000 and 205,000 people respectively from colorectal cancer over the next 30 years. This study pointed out that individuals who want to keep colorectal cancer at bay should refrain from consuming red and processed meats.
