A case-control study on red meat consumption and risk of stroke among a group of Iranian adults

The odds of suffering from stroke are stacked against individuals on high red meat diet.

This study examined the relationship between frequent consumption of red meat and the likelihood of suffering from stroke. Researchers compared the red meat intake levels of 195 stroke patients with that of 195 healthy Iranian adults. 

The research team found out that participants who consumed the most amount of red meat had 119% higher risk of developing a stroke than their counterparts who ate little or no red meat. The results of this study show that preference for red meat may increase an individual's chances of having a stroke attack.
