Change in smoking status and its relation to the risk of gastroduodenal ulcer in Korean men

Cigarette smoking may spur the formation, growth, and spread of cancerous cells in the stomach and duodenum.

This study determined the rate of occurrence of gastro-duodenal cancer according to smoking habits. Researchers matched smoking status with the prevalence of gastroduodenal cancer in a cohort comprising of 43,380 Korean adults. 

Data analysis revealed that current smokers had higher risk of suffering from gastroduodenal cancer than never smokers. The results of this study showed that cigarette smokers are liable to develop gastroduodenal cancer.
