High fruit and vegetable intake is positively correlated with antioxidant status and cognitive performance in healthy subjects

Hopping on the plant-based diet train may help stave off cognitive decline in older adults.

This study clarified how frequent intake of fruits and vegetables affects cognitive function and blood levels of antioxidants in the elderly. Researchers examined 193 individuals within the age bracket of 45-102 years with regards to their cognition, eating habits, and plasma concentrations of antioxidants.

Researchers observed that consistent fruit and vegetables eaters enjoyed a significant enhancement in cognitive function and circulating levels of antioxidants. This study demonstrated that upping the intake of fruits and vegetables may lower the risk of cognitive impairment in later life.
