Artificial sweeteners and risk of cardiovascular diseases: results from the prospective NutriNet-Santé cohort

Consumers of artificial sweeteners may have high propensity to come down with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease (stroke).

This study addressed the concern linking dietary intake of artificial sweeteners to the development of cardiovascular disease. Researchers collated and examined data on the artificial sweetener consumption and cardiovascular disease diagnosis rates among 103,388 French men and women.

Researchers discovered that the risk of having cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease (stroke) went up with high dietary ingestion of artificial sweeteners. The results of this study showed that indulgence in artificial sweeteners may induce the development of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease.
