Increased Intake of Vegetables and Fruits Improves Cognitive Function among Chinese Oldest Old: 10-Year Follow-Up Study

Upping the consumption of fruits and vegetables may help fight off cognitive decline in older adults.

This study looked at how generous intake of fruits and vegetables affects cognitive function in elderly men and women. A total of 2,454 Chinese men and women enrolled for this study and volunteered information used to assess their dietary habits and cognitive function. 

Researchers discovered that older adults on high fruit and vegetable diet had decreased risk of mild cognitive impairment and improved cognitive function. This study highlighted the beneficial role of fruits and vegetables on cognitive function in elderly men and women.
