Egg consumption and the risk of diabetes in adults, Jiangsu, China

Following a high egg diet may elevate an individual's odds of having diabetes.

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of high dietary ingestion of eggs on diabetes risk. With the aid of validated food frequency questionnaires, researchers collated and analyzed dietary information obtained from 2,849 Chinese adults aged 20 years and above. The blood sugar levels of all the participants were measured regularly during the course of the study.

Researchers identified a harmful association between consistent consumption of eggs and increased risk of diabetes, especially among women. The findings of this study indicate that adding more eggs to our diet may put us on the path to becoming diabetic.
