Vegetables, Fruits, and Risk of Colorectal Cancer: A Case-Control Study From Uruguay

Following a diet high in fruits and vegetables may help safeguard our colon and rectum from becoming cancerous.

This study analyzed if high dietary ingestion of fruits and vegetables can reduce the risk of colorectal cancer. Researchers gathered information about the dietary choices and diagnosis of colorectal cancer from individuals living in Uruguay.

Researchers found out that individuals on the top of the fruit and vegetable consumption ladder were more likely to stay free from colorectal cancer than their counterparts at the bottom end of the ladder. This data from this study indicate that strict adherence to diets rich in fruits and vegetables may help shield men and women from colorectal cancer.
