Regular intake of non-vegetarian diets may boost an individual's odds of developing reflux esophagitis.

This study focused on the consumption of vegetarian diet in relation to the prevention of reflux esophagitis. The study population included 148 vegetarian Buddhist priests and 148 non vegetarians.

Researchers found out that non vegetarians had higher chances of suffering from reflux esophagitis than vegetarians. The results of this study show that vegetarians may have a low propensity to come down with reflux esophagitis.
