Vegetarian or vegan diets and blood lipids: a meta-analysis of randomized trials

Strict adherence to a vegetarian diet may result in a healthier lipid profile in men and women.

This study examined the impact dietary choices have on plasma concentrations of lipids. Researchers analyzed data extracted from 30 clinical trials conducted between 1980 and 2022.

Data analysis revealed reduced blood levels of total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (bad cholesterol) among vegetarians. This study pointed out the beneficial effects of plant-based diets on lipid profile.
