A systematic review and meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies on the association between alcohol intake and risk of fracture

Regular intake of alcohol may raise an individual's odds of fracturing a bone.

This study evaluated alcohol drinking in relation to the subsequent occurrence of fracture by means of a meta-analysis. A total of 40 studies involving 170,916 cases of fractures were included in this meta-analysis.

Researchers found a heightened risk of fracture among alcohol consumers. This meta-analysis shed more light on the detrimental effect of alcohol on bone health.
