Association Between Consumption of Ultraprocessed Foods and Cognitive Decline

Greater intake of ultra-processed foods may accelerate the development of cognitive decline in men and women.

This study was carried out to confirm the harmful impact of ultra-processed food consumption on cognitive function. More than 10,000 men and women residing in 6 cities in Brazil were involved in this study. 

Researchers discovered that elevated intake of ultra-processed foods resulted in a decline in cognitive function. This study provides robust evidence that high dietary ingestion of ultra-processed foods may hasten the onset of cognitive decline in men and women.
