Intake of Fried Foods Is Associated With Obesity in the Cohort of Spanish Adults From the European Prospective Investigation Into Cancer and Nutrition

Indulgence in fried foods may set an individual on the path to obesity.

This research work investigated the fried food-obesity connection hypothesis in a study population comprising of 33,542 Spanish men and women aged 26-69 years. Researchers studied the submitted dietary questionnaires, body mass index, and waist circumference measurements of all the participants.

Researchers found out that the higher the amounts of fried food an individual consumed, the greater his/her chances of suffering from general and central obesity. This study affirms the notion that increased consumption of fried foods may be a contributing factor to the rising rates of obesity globally.
