Associations between smoking status and bodily pain in a cross-sectional survey of UK respondents

Cigarette smoking may aggravate the pain experiences of an individual.

This research work studied the cigarette smoking-bodily pain connection theory. Researchers matched smoking habits with the occurrence and severity of body pain among over 200,000 UK men and women.

Researchers observed that daily smokers experienced more severe bodily pains than never smokers. This study suggested that cigarette smoking may exacerbate pain perception and severity in an individual.
