Fiber consumption and all-cause, cardiovascular, and cancer mortalities: a systematic review and meta-analysis of cohort studies

Eating greater amounts of fiber-containing foods may lower an individual's chances of dying from cancer, cardiovascular disease, and other causes.

This study examined the connection between consuming a high fiber diet and the odds of suffering from deaths resulting from cancer, cardiovascular disease, and other causes. Researchers reviewed data from relevant studies that appeared in the MEDLINE and web of science database from inception till August 2014. 

Data analysis displayed a trend towards reduced death toll from cancer, cardiovascular ailments, and other chronic diseases among regular consumers of fiber-rich foods. This meta-analysis suggests that adopting a high fiber diet may significantly cut down total, cancer, and cardiovascular mortality risk in men and women.
