Legume consumption in adults and risk of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Filling our plates with legumes may help shield us from type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

This research work assessed if eating legumes can help hold type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease at bay. Researchers studied dietary and health data from over 2 million persons who took part in 47 studies. 

Researchers found out that elevated consumption of legumes was beneficial for the prevention of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. This study suggests that individuals who want to increase their level of protection against cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes should add more legumes to their diet.
