Association of ultra-processed foods consumption with risk of cardio-cerebrovascular disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis of cohort studies

Heightened consumption of ultra-processed foods may be one of the factors that contribute to the development of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

This meta-analysis explored the nexus between the intake of ultra-processed foods and the risk of developing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Researchers compiled data extracted from 39 studies.

Researchers noted that the greater the dietary exposure to ultra-processed foods, the higher the chances of being diagnosed with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. This study affirmed the notion that frequent ingestion of ultra-processed foods may lead to the occurrence of cerebrovascular and cardiovascular diseases.
