Association between phytochemical index and metabolic syndrome

Generous consumption of foods loaded with phytochemicals could lower the risk of metabolic syndrome in men and women.

This study shed more light on the impact increased ingestion of foods high in phytochemicals has on the incidence of metabolic syndrome. Researchers examined data from dietary questionnaires and health surveys completed by 31,319 Korean men and women aged 19 years and above.

Researchers observed that high dietary exposure to phytochemicals cut down a participant's risk of having metabolic syndrome significantly. This study supports habitual intake of foods rich in phytochemicals as a viable preventive measure against metabolic syndrome.
