Fighting Breast Cancer With Chemo or Oatmeal?
If you are a woman, what steps are you taking to prevent from being diagnosed with breast cancer? As Dr. John McDougall points out in the two-minute video below, most women believe that the best way to protect themselves is through early detection practices such as examining their breasts monthly along with keeping their yearly physical and mammogram appointment. What most women aren't aware of though, is that they could be protecting themselves to a much larger degree by eating a diet that supports a healthy immune system. Every meal we consume either prevents and protects against disease, or promotes it.
Nutrient deficient diets rich in animal products, saturated fats, oils, alcohol, chemical additives, refined foods and sugars offer little to no protection against cancer. Additionally, these rich foods contribute to excess weight and are highly acidic, which creates a fertile environment for cancer cells to thrive. A diet comprised of whole plant foods however, bathes every cell in our bodies with cancer-fighting phytonutrients, fiber and antioxidants. An impressive example of this can be seen here. Blood samples taken from two groups were applied to a petri dish containing cancer cells. The blood from those eating a plant-based diet killed a significantly higher percentage of cancer cells, than the blood from those eating the typical American diet.
In the video below, Dr. McDougall explains the extreme measures women will go through in order to prevent or detect early signs of breast cancer. He says that women go to great lengths trying to protect themselves using conventional tools and procedures while overlooking the most powerful and effective tool that they have....diet.
