Habitual Coffee Consumption Increases Risk of Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma: A Mendelian Randomization Study

Consistent consumption of coffee may raise an individual's likelihood of suffering from glaucoma.

Can the love for coffee put an individual at risk of developing glaucoma? The study attempted to provide an answer to the above question. Researchers charted coffee drinking habits against the incidence of glaucoma in a study group comprising of more than 120,000 individuals of European descent. 

Researchers found out that the risk of having primary open angle glaucoma rose with increase in the rate of consumption of coffee. This study suggests that likeness for coffee may spur the development of glaucoma in men and women.
