HI All, I'm only two months into the whole foods plant based lifestyle so I thought i'd reach out to some like minded folks and make some friends!

since I started I've lost around seventeen pounds and down two pant sizes. I'm not sure I can pin it down to just one thing because as you know, detoxing off all the nasty hazardous things like meat, eggs, dairy, sugar, salt, oil, flour etc. it's easy to drop pounds. But one thing that stands out for me is how I feel after enjoying VFB (Veggies for breakfast) vs eating oatmeal with fruit... lately i'm eating the later as a second breakfast, just a much smaller portion.

Obviously I'm new to this so if anyone has any pointers, or food ideas, I"m all ears! I spend way too much time looking for recipes, shopping and then cooking!

Great job on the weight loss and pant size. I remember how excited it was for me to come down from 48 inch waist to my now 38 inches. This was a major achievement for me and the prize was I can now get a pair or Versace jeans to fit So it is important to give yourself rewards as your journey continues. this becomes even more important as you trim down as the weight loss slows. This is a good thing as you body is homing in on you ideal weight based on you energy consumption. It is my understanding that psychologist's say it takes three-years of performing a routine to have it become natural. We all need help so it is great to surround yourself with supports - people that are on the same journey. I am two months in to a reboot of my diet also. I "fell off the wagon" last May when my doctor at the time would not support my lifestyle change. On finding Dr. Carney I am now back in earnest. So congrats again.  More ...

Hello everyone. So Dr. Carney's Starch Smartest system says to eat veggies for breakfast. What do you have for quick breakfast? Also, it says NO vinegar, which I use Balsamic vinegar for salad dressing... what do you use for salad dressing?

    thanks!

I have been too busy these past few months with a new shed (new one came, was a bust so it's being removed today and a new one put in), working out twice a week at the gym, riding bike on off days, working 9 to 10 hours a day and trying to plan menus and keeping up with the house, and grandkid that I have not had time to come in here to read more blogs/articles and get to know you all. That being said, I am down into clothes sizes I have not seen since jr. high and for that I am grateful. however, my iron has only gone up from 9 to 16 and i have surgery up and coming for a polyp, which my Dr. is hoping will help with the iron. if you have any tips for this I would appreciate it. My question has to do with blood pressure. I've been taking (reluctantly) the prescription my dr put me on. but I am also eating oats, taking vita K2 in the MK7 form to help with blood pressure but it's still hovering in the upper 140s into the mid 150s over 80-90 ranges. what can I do to raise my blood pressure? If this is already addressed i apologize and ask that you share the link. thank you and I hope to get in here soon! Lori

Hi Sean,  how is your morning stretches and evening walk coming along?

I've been going to the gym 2 or 3 times a week and walking the dog more regularly.  While I stretch at the gym I can't say I'm as faithful to do my morning stretches.  I'll work on a schedule check list for the house for those and a few other things.

Yesterday I signed up for a new gym.  It will cost $10 less a month and it is much smaller, more personalized.  and the people who run it are physical therapist and his assistant.  They help comprise a personalized work out to help you achieve your personal goals, and they will change it as time goes on when you are ready.  While I was previously going to the gym I felt like a fish out of water, not knowing what to do, or how to use the machines, or if I'm doing what I needed to to achieve my goals.  Talk about excitement at the new place, and all for only $19.99 a month!

Hey all. I still have weight to lose, but for the past two months I've plataued and cant seem to lose anything. been at this same weight. When I first started, as expected, I lost 30 lbs. I was hoping you all had some advise. I wish I could say it's fat turning to muscle, but I fear that is not the case :(. even though I have been working out twice a week. Ideas may help. PS. before you ask, I am enjoying oatmeal with fruit for breakfast, salad for lunch, and variation usually like veggie burger for dinner. no nuts. I do use hemp seed a tbsp in my oatmeal but thats about all. And I did switch from Almond milk to Oat milk. And yes, I am usually satisfied throughout the day. any advise would be apreciated. signed, Thrilled with lifestyle change, frustrated with long plateau :)

I guess I have to give up Oats for breakfast, which really takes me well into the afternoon and it's simple for getting to work on time. what does a good breakfast look like to someone using the smartest starch system?

    HI Sean and thank you!

I tried printing the vegworld magazine article but it was all jumbled with the website link on every page.  I guess one has to subscribe to print it so I  will have to read it later.

I was able to pring the starch-smartest system and it's saying no vinegar. I use Balsamic Vinegar for a dressing, if I need to stop that what else can I use for a dressing?  As you know most other's I've found either have added sweeteners or nuts.  this was my easy go to!

I look forward to reading the rest when I get a chance.

thanks again for all your help, and I do plan on blogging, just a matter of finding time with projects around the house like destroying a shed! :)
