  • I was wondering how Susie incorporated the Starchsmart method of eating and fueled her training. Did she eat breakfast of starches, greens and legumes before training and what did she use as fuel during the training. Thank you

I saw a post--not here--where a doctor advised eating rice at least once a day for healing. Would this help? We do love brown rice at our house.

You know, that is what I am beginning to think.  I think the high fat in the diet may be causing me more inflammation, and I should try to return to Dr. Carney's recommendations.  Thank you!

This seems so different from each other and I worry about the large amount of the seeds. Has anyone else had experience with this protocol?

I also have a question about meal orders. For eating with family, it is easier to adapt to grain and fruit breakfast and then lunch and dinner of greens and starchy vegetables. Does that work as well? Okay to do this while visiting others then revert back to Dr. Carney's recommendations when I return home?

So there will be different expressions of intolerance to food. My body greatly rebels when I have high fat of any type. I can tolerate nuts but only a small amount and not every day. I used to have many other foods that caused flareups--citrus, yeast, spinach, nightshades. But no more. Gluten was the 1st offender. I can tolerate some now though I'm not eating it regularly. I am able to handle spelt and Einkorn flour once in a while, even organic whole wheat. But I reserve that for special occasions. It used to be only crumbs from breads with gluten would give me pain. It's been over a year since I started this journey but I am finding healing. So thankful I met the Carney's!   More ...

    Sue,

How are you doing on your healing journey?  I have varied from this style of eating to follow Goodbye Lupus plan which is so completely different.  It ends up being high in omega 3's from flax and chia and also a great volume of greens combined in smoothies.  I am not convinced that it works for me, but since I seem to have problems with legumes, night shades and many starches, I am not sure if I can heal on this plan.  So, basicly, I am in the same place I was, and feeling frustrated not sure which way to go.  I may head back to this plan because I do question the high amount of fat in diet from all the seeds.

Hi Sue.  I would love to hear how you did it, when you have time.  What foods were you sensitive to when you started?  Did you avoid them complelely?  What did your daily meals look like?  How long did it take you?  I think I am intolerant to legumes, but feel like they are a healiing food that I should be including.  Plus, they fill me up so I don't eat so many sweet potatoes. Thanks so much for encouraging responce.

To question above about brown rice, I find that brown rice is inflammatory for me, if that helps.

Hi Sue.  I am interested to hear from others too.  I have been dealing with leaky gut for about 10 years and would love to feel like I am healing.  How are you doing?
