Lung cancer risk and consumption of vegetables and fruit: an evaluation based on a systematic review of epidemiological evidence from Japan.

A significant reduction in the risk of lung cancer is associated frequent intake of generous portions of fruits.

This meta-analysis studied the effect of regular ingestion of fruits and vegetables on the risk of lung cancer. Researchers reviewed data and evidence from 14 studies conducted in Japan.

An inverse association was found between consistent consumption of fruits and lung cancer incidence. This study suggests that adequate intake of fruits may exert a protective effect against lung cancer.
