Dietary Polyphenol Intake and Gastric Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Elevated consumption of foods high in polyphenols and flavonoids may slash the risk of stomach (gastric) cancer.

​This study was carried out to confirm the protective effects of polyphenol from food sources against gastric (stomach) cancer. Data from more than 1 million persons who volunteered for 19 studies were examined for this study. 

Researchers observed that dietary intake of polyphenols and flavonoids diminished stomach cancer risk by as much as 29% and 28% respectively. The results of this study showed that adequate ingestion of foods rich in polyphenols and flavonoids may confer an individual with significant protection against gastric cancer.
