Effects of Vitamin and Antioxidant Supplements in Prevention of Bladder Cancer: a Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.

Beta-carotene supplements may increase bladder cancer risk.

This study assessed the role of vitamin and antioxidant supplements play in the prevention of bladder cancer by meta-analysis. Researchers conducted a meticulous meta-analysis on data obtained from fourteen (14) randomized controlled trials.

The team of investigators observed that beta carotene supplements increased the odds of developing bladder cancer. In addition, other vitamin and anti-oxidant supplements were found to have no effect on bladder cancer risk. The results of this study suggest that vitamin and anti-oxidant supplements may not exert any preventive effect on bladder cancer.
