Buckwheat and CVD Risk Markers: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

Consuming generous portions of buckwheat regularly may help to improve the cardiovascular disease risk profile of an individual.

​This research work studied the effect high dietary ingestion of buckwheat has on biomarkers of cardiovascular disease. Researchers conducted a meticulous meta-analysis on data extracted from 15 human and 21 animal studies. 

Researchers discovered that frequent consumption of buckwheat significantly reduced blood levels of triglycerides and total cholesterol—important biomarkers of cardiovascular disease. The results of this study reveal that generous intake of buckwheat may have a favorable effect on cardiovascular disease risk profile.
