Meta-analysis: Does garlic intake reduce risk of gastric cancer?

Regular ingestion of garlic may help to fend off stomach cancer.

The purpose of this study was to undertake a meta-analysis of data obtained from studies that examined the relationship between frequent consumption of garlic and the odds of getting gastric (stomach) cancer. Researchers analyzed data from 17 studies involving 14,889 healthy persons and 8,621 patients with stomach cancer.

Researchers discovered that the risk of gastric cancer decreased with habitual consumption of garlic. This study supports the notion that adequate intake of garlic may help to keep stomach cancer at bay.
