Permanent tooth loss and sugar-sweetened beverage intake in U.S. young adults

​Habitual intake sugar-sweetened beverages may accelerate tooth loss in adults.

​This study clarified the association between regular drinking of sugar-sweetened beverages and the occurrence of permanent loss of teeth among US adults. Researchers compared the incidence of tooth loss between consumers and non-consumers of sugary beverages. 

Researchers found out that permanent loss of tooth occurred at a higher frequency among consumers than in non-consumers of sugar-sweetened beverages. This study documented that likeness for sugary beverages may promote tooth loss.
