Soy Food Consumption Is Inversely Associated with Handgrip Strength: Results from the TCLSIH Cohort Study

High compliance with diets filled with soy foods may promote strengthening of handgrip in adults.

​Can indulgence in soy foods lead to improved handgrip strength in adults? This research work attempts to provide answer to the above question. Researchers studied the diets of 29,525 Chinese men and women with the aid of validated food frequency questionnaires and measured the hand grip strength of all the participants using a handheld digital dynamometer. 

Researchers discovered that devout consumption of soy foods tend to reduce decline in grip strength. This study pointed out that preference for ultra-processed foods may enhance hand grip strength in adults.
