Soy and Isoflavone Consumption in Relation to Prostate Cancer Risk in China

High compliance with diets loaded with soy and other isoflavone-rich foods may help ward off prostate cancer.

This study compared the incidence of prostate cancer between consumers and non-consumers of isoflavone-containing foods, such as soy foods. Researchers scrutinized the diets of 133 men with prostate cancer and another 265 Chinese men free from the disease.

Researchers found a low proportion of prostate cancer among high consumers of soy and other foods rich in isoflavones, such as daidzein and genistein. The data from this study indicate that a high isoflavone diet may shield men from prostate cancer.
