Habitual consumption of soy protein and isoflavones and risk of metabolic syndrome in adults ≥ 40 years old: a prospective analysis of the Korean Multi-Rural Communities Cohort Study (MRCohort)

A high soy diet may help fend off metabolic syndrome.

​This study clarified the association between the frequency of consumption of soy foods and the odds of being diagnosed with metabolic syndrome. The study population comprised of 5,509 Korean men and women aged 40 years and above. 

The research team noticed that high dietary intake isoflavones and protein from soy foods boosted an individual's chances of avoiding metabolic syndrome. The data from this study suggest that regular ingestion of soy foods may help shield an individual from metabolic syndrome.
