Intake of Cantonese-style salted fish as a cause of nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Regular intake of Cantonese-style salted fish may spur the development of nasopharyngeal cancer.

​This research work studied the link between the frequency of ingestion of Cantonese-style salted fish and the occurrence of nasopharyngeal cancer. Researchers evaluated data drawn out from 4 studies.

The research team noted that lovers of Cantonese-style salted fish were highly likely to suffer from nasopharyngeal cancer. The results of this study suggest that habitual consumption of Cantonese-style salted fish may be a major contributing factor to the development of nasopharyngeal cancer.
