Association Between Ultraprocessed Food Consumption and Risk of Mortality Among Middle-aged Adults in France

Heightened consumption of ultra-processed foods may raise total mortality risk in men and women.

This study was carried out to determine if there is a link between ultra-processed food consumption and the probability of dying from chronic diseases and other causes. Researchers monitored the dietary habits and mortality records of 44,551 French men and women over a period of 2 years.

Researchers observed that the more ultra-processed foods people consumed, the higher their chances of suffering from deaths arising from different diseases. This study demonstrated that fondness for ultra-processed foods may contribute significantly to the rising mortality rates globally.
