Legume intake is inversely associated with metabolic syndrome in adults

Frequent eating of legumes may help to hold metabolic syndrome at bay.

This study determined the risk of metabolic syndrome associated with the intake of legumes. A total of 240 Iranian men and women participated in this study and provided information about their diet and metabolic syndrome diagnosis status.

Researchers noticed that individuals on high legume diet had slight chances of suffering from metabolic syndrome. This study adds to the evidence that diets rich in legumes may be beneficial for the prevention of metabolic syndrome.
