Egg consumption associated with all-cause mortality in rural China: a 14-year follow-up study

Eating more than 6 eggs per week may worsen an individual's chances of dying prematurely.

This study looked at the influence of consistent egg consumption on the total mortality risk. Researchers monitored the dietary and mortality records of nearly 9,500 Chinese men and women for a duration of 14 years.

Researchers noticed that participants who ate more than 6 eggs per week faced a significant increase in the risk of suffering from premature death. This 2021 study of Chinese men and women documented a positive association between generous intake of eggs and rising total mortality risk.
