Use of Antihypertensive Drugs and Risk of Malignant Melanoma: A Meta-analysis of Observational Studies.

Individuals taking antihypertensive drugs in the class of diuretics and beta-blockers may have a high predisposition to skin cancer.

​The purpose of this study was to undertake a meta-analysis on the relationship between the usage of antihypertensive drug and the probability of developing malignant melanoma—a form of skin cancer. A total of 8 studies were included in this meta-analysis. 

Researchers found out that the tendency for malignant melanoma to occur was high among users of antihypertensive drugs belonging to the class of diuretics and beta-blockers. In conclusion, a significant increase in the risk of malignant melanoma was found among individuals on diuretics and beta-blocking agents in this study.
