Ultra-processed food consumption and chronic kidney disease risk: a systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis

​A high ultra-processed food diet may propel an individual on the path to developing chronic kidney disease (CKD).

​The purpose of this study was to undertake a systematic meta-analysis of data obtained from 8 studies that focused on the consumption of ultra-processed foods in relation to the occurrence of chronic kidney disease (CKD). These studies were published up to October 31, 2023. 

Researchers noticed that ultra-processed food lovers had high rate of diagnosis of chronic kidney disease (CKD). This study demonstrated that a high ultra-processed food diet may facilitate the development of chronic kidney disease.
