Oat Intake and Risk of Type 2 Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease and All-Cause Mortality: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Increased intake of oats may facilitate the prevention of type 2 diabetes and premature death.

​This study was undertaken to clarify the relationship between high dietary ingestion of oats and the probability of developing and dying from type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular ailments, and other chronic diseases. Researchers performed a meticulous meta-analysis on data extracted from 471,157 participants who volunteered for 8 studies.

Researchers discovered that consistent consumption of oats decreased type 2 diabetes and total mortality risk. This study concluded that incorporating oats into our diets may help guard against the development type 2 diabetes and suffering from premature deaths arising from chronic diseases and other causes.
