Vegetable Protein Intake was Inversely Associated with Cardiovascular Mortality in a 15-Year Follow-Up Study of the General Japanese Population

Consistent consumption of proteins from vegetables may help reduce the mortality from cardiovascular disease.

​This study examined whether an association exists between the intake of proteins from vegetables and cardiovascular mortality risk. Researchers monitored dietary and mortality records in a study population comprising of 7,774 Japanese men and women aged 30 years and above for a period spanning over 13 years. 

Researchers noticed a low death toll from cardiovascular disease among participants with high dietary exposure to vegetable proteins. The findings of this study revealed that eating a diet packed with proteins from vegetables may help cut down the number of deaths attributed to cardiovascular disease.
