Association of Plant-Based Diet With Cardiovascular Disease and Mortality: A Meta-Analysis and Systematic Review of Prospect Cohort Studies

Regular consumers of healthy plant foods may have low chances of being diagnosed with and eventually dying from cardiovascular disease.

This study synthesized evidence from previously published studies that focused on the impact of following a plant-based diet on cardiovascular disease (CVD) development and mortality risk. Researchers conducted a meticulous meta-analysis on data and evidence drawn out from a pool of over 400,000 men and women.

Researchers noticed that consumers of healthy plant foods experienced a significant decline in their risk of acquiring and dying from cardiovascular disease. "These findings highlight the favorable role of healthful plant-based foods in reducing cardiovascular mortality and CVD," the authors concluded.
