Heavy Alcohol Use Is Associated With Gastric Cancer: Analysis of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey From 1999 to 2010

Heavy drinking of alcohol may be a strong risk factor for stomach (gastric) cancer development.

​This research work looked at the stomach cancer-promoting actions of alcohol. Nearly half a million individuals took part in this study and volunteered information on their alcohol drinking habits and stomach (gastric) cancer diagnosis status. 

Researchers noticed that stomach cancer occurred at a high rate among heavy alcohol consumers. This study lend further support to the notion that high intake of alcohol may facilitate the development of gastric cancer.
