Citrus fruit intake and gastric cancer: The stomach cancer pooling (StoP) project consortium.

Generous consumption of citrus fruits may help to fend off stomach cancer.

This study assessed how the intake of citrus fruits affects an individual's chances of having gastric (stomach) cancer. Researchers pooled data from 15 studies that examined 6,340 stomach cancer patients and 14,490 healthy subjects.

Researchers observed that the higher the amounts and frequency of citrus fruits consumed, the lower the risk of developing gastric cancer. The results from this study show that regular intake of citrus fruits may help to halt the formation, growth, and spread of cancerous cells and tumors in the stomach.
