The role of tomato products and lycopene in the prevention of prostate cancer: a meta-analysis of observational studies.

A decline in prostate cancer risk is associated with habitual consumption of tomatoes and lycopene-rich foods.

The aim of this research work was to determine the correlation between the consumption of tomatoes and lycopene-rich foods and prostate cancer risk. Ten cohort and eleven case-control studies were included in this meta-analysis. Researchers discovered that high intake of tomatoes and lycopene-rich foods decreased the odds of developing prostate cancer. The findings of this meta-analysis reveal that diets high in lycopene and tomatoes may inhibit the development of cancerous cells and tumors in the prostate.
