Cholesterol and the risk of grade-specific prostate cancer incidence: evidence from two large prospective cohort studies with up to 37 years' follow up.

The aggressive form of prostate cancer is more likely to occur in men who are fond of consuming cholesterol-rich foods.

This research work studied the effect of indulging in high cholesterol diets on prostate cancer risk. Researchers followed 12,926 men for 37 years. During the period of the study, 650 had prostate cancer.

Researchers discovered that high dietary ingestion of cholesterol-containing foods boosted the risk of acquiring high grade prostate cancer. This study reveals that cholesterol-rich foods may induce the transformation of normal cells in the prostate gland to aggressive cancerous tumors.
