Increased alcohol-related oesophageal cancer mortality rates in Japanese men

Regular drinking of alcohol may tilt the odds of dying from esophageal cancer against men.

​This research work looked at esophageal cancer mortality rate in relation to alcohol usage in Japanese men. Researchers charted alcohol consumption against deaths attributed to esophageal cancer in a cohort of Japanese men. 

Researchers found a spike in the number of deaths from esophageal cancer among men who drank alcohol. This study revealed that alcohol intake may be a significant contributor to the rise in mortality from esophageal cancer among Japanese men.
