Citrus fruit intake substantially reduces the risk of esophageal cancer: a meta-analysis of epidemiological studies.

High consumption of citrus fruits may significantly cut down esophageal cancer development risk.

This research work was carried out to determine the relationship between regular intake of citrus fruits and the risk of esophageal cancer by meta-analysis. 6 cohort and 13 case-control studies were included in this meta-analysis. Researchers observed that consistent consumers of citrus fruits had slim chances of developing esophageal cancer. The results of this meta-analysis indicate that generous consumption of citrus fruits may confer significant protection against the development of esophageal cancer.
