Meta-analysis of epidemiologic studies on cigarette smoking and liver cancer.

Cigarette smokers may be highly vulnerable to liver cancer.

This study assessed the role of cigarette smoking in the development of liver cancer. Researchers collated and analyzed data obtained from 38 cohort and 50 case-control studies. They discovered that the risk of liver cancer increased with cigarette and tobacco smoking. The findings of the meta-analysis provide strong evidence that cigarette smoking may promote the development and growth of cancerous cells and tumors in the liver.
