Alcohol consumption as a major risk factor for the rise in liver cancer mortality rates in Japanese men

Alcohol use may heighten a man's chances of dying from liver cancer.

​This research work studied the impact of alcohol consumption on liver cancer mortality. Researchers charted alcohol use against the number of deaths recorded from liver cancer in a study group comprising of Japanese men. 

The research team estimated that alcohol intake was responsible for 70% of deaths arising from liver cancer among Japanese men. The data from this study provide strong evidence that alcohol drinking may result in a substantial increase in liver cancer mortality in men.
